Iran urges boosting ties with Cuba as a strategic partner

Tehran (IP)- Cuban President’s special envoy met with Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian on Saturday afternoon and exchanged views on topics of mutual interest.

Iran PressIran news: Ricardo Cabrisas, Cuba’s deputy prime minister and the Cuban president’s special envoy, traveled to Tehran to take part in the 18th meeting of the Iran-Cuba Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation, met with Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian.

Amir Abdollahian described Cuba as a strategic partner and called for enhancing cooperation in various fields.

He said Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation is an excellent opportunity for the two sides to explore avenues to improve relations in economy and commerce and deepen political collaborations.

The Iranian Foreign Minister said the mutual political ties and the considerable cooperation in the medical field, especially in the joint production of vaccines, are reliable.

Amir Abdollahian noted the aim of Iran's government to implement all past agreements and urged further efforts by the two sides to realize the potential for economic cooperation.

Amir Abdollahian condemned the United States' sanctions against Iran and Cuba and stressed the importance of using each other’s experiences in neutralizing the sanctions.

Ricardo Cabrisas, Cuba’s deputy prime minister and the Cuban president’s special envoy, thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran for its steadfast position of supporting bilateral ties and opposing the United States' unilateral sanctions against Cuba.

He said the 18th meeting of the Iran-Cuba Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation is in line with the two countries' strategic relations.

He stressed the necessity of drawing on the two countries’ economic potential to advance the two sides' interests.
