Tehran (IP)- Iran's government spokesman announced that a French company had been convicted of paying $1.5 to Iran as compensation.

Iran PressIran news: Ali Bahadori Jahromi, the spokesman for the Iranian government, tweeted that the International Court of Arbitration had rejected the French gas company's $ 37 million claims and ordered it to pay $ 1.5 million in compensation to Iran.

Iran's government spokesman didn't mention the Company's name. Still, according to the managing director of Iran Gas Engineering and Development Company, Frances Sofregaz engineering company is obliged to pay Iran €13 million to compensate for the termination of a deal with Iran on recovering natural gas flared at Iran’s South Pars gas field.

On Sunday, April 10, 2022, Reza Noshadi told SHANA that based on the mentioned ruling, the French company is obliged to pay Iran €13 million to compensate for the deal's termination with Iran on recovering natural gas flared at Iran’s South Pars gas field.

Sofregaz has previously opened a lawsuit against Iran and claimed that the Islamic Republic should pay €26 million in compensation to the company. It was forced to terminate its contract with Iran because of the U.S. sanctions.

According to the official, Sofregaz had only completed part of their commitment, valued at 1.5 million euros in the project, and the Iranian government blocked the money.
