Tehran (IP) – Speaker of the Iranian Parliament condemned the crime in Mashhad and said that the nation should be vigilant so that these evil actions never harm the unity and integrity of the Islamic Ummah.

Iran PressIran News: Three clerics were stabbed by an unknown attacker at the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in the northeastern Iranian city of Mashhad; the incident caused the martyrdom of one and wounding of two of the clerics, media reported on April 5.

The assailant was arrested with the help of the police and security agents.

Attending the Parliament's open session on Wednesday morning, the Iranian Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, stated: "We must be vigilant so that the enemies of Iran and the opportunists will not be able to take advantage of such crimes to disrupt friendship and brotherhood between nations."

Noting that many Afghan brothers were present on the battlefield to defend Iran during the Sacred Defense period, Ghalibaf said: "Our Afghan brothers fought, defended, were killed and wounded during the Sacred Defense period without expecting any award."

He said that these evil acts should never harm the unity and integrity of the Islamic Ummah.
