West Azerbaijan (IP)- Sahvalan water cave in West Azerbaijan province, northwest of Iran, after two years of closure due to the outbreak of coronavirus, is permanently reopened in Nowruz 1401 (the Iranian New Year, which starts on March 21) and hosts tourists.

Iran PressIran news: Sahvalan water cave is one of the most amazing natural features of West Azerbaijan province and this cave is located in a village called Sahvalan in the city of Mahabad and is one of the unique natural caves in northwestern Iran. Some say that the discovery of the Sahvalan water cave dates back 150 years ago.

The water cave is the most important tourist attraction of Sahvalan village and on Iranian national holidays, it experiences a large presence of travelers and tourists. This beautiful cave has an important role in the development of tourism in West Azerbaijan province.

Sahvalan means icy in Kurdish, which shows the coldness of the Sahvalan village. This beautiful and old cave is of interest to people, nature lovers and tourists every four seasons.

Sahvalan cave is 600 meters long and half of it is on land and half of it is in water. This cave is a place for pigeons to live and its charms increase when boating.

After Ali Sadr water cave in Hamadan, Sahvalan is the second largest water cave in Iran and is also a tourist destination for foreign tourists due to its unique landscape and beautiful natural effects. On Nowruz 1401, tourists from Iraqi Kurdistan also visited this cave.

Sahvalan water cave is registered as a national natural monument in Iran.
