Hoveyzeh cruise missile

Iran(IP)- The homemade production of Hoveyzeh cruise missiles is a practical step in increasing the armed forces' capability and Iran's deterrent power.

Iran PressIran News: Iran's missile field has a special growth and is one of the important components of creating sustainable security in the country. In the field of missiles, Iran's defense industry has achieved completely homemade products with the latest technologies.

Nature of cruise missiles

In the field of producing big missiles, two types of missiles, namely ballistic and cruise missiles, are made in our country's defense industry. Cruise missiles are a type of guided missile; in fact, an unmanned aerial vehicle whose path can be changed and guided until it reaches the target. Precision and radar evasion are important features of cruise missiles made in Iran. Most cruise systems use a jet engine, while ballistic missiles use rocket engines.

Cruise missiles are used in various types of military operations due to their special characteristics. Relatively low cost, longer flight and movement capability, radar evasion, and difficulty in detection are also features of cruise missiles. These missiles move toward targets in high-speed flight at low altitudes, making them often difficult to detect.

In the field of cruise missiles, cruise missiles attacking ground targets are rapidly becoming one of the main weapons, especially in the world's major armies. Iranian missiles often use multiple guidance, most likely, the TERCOM and DSMACs are the same family that helps navigate and find the right route based on the matching of images (aerial and satellite) of the route with the computer inside the missile. Navigation systems are commonly used in most ground cruise missiles in the world.

This type of guidance is formed based on a map of the terrain, and the missile travels along the route based on the information entered into the computer or flight computers, and with various tools, corrects its movement path and increases its accuracy.

Iran's defense industry has been able to produce various types of cruise missiles by using the knowledge of domestic experts and modern science. In addition to cruise missiles such as Noor, Qadir, Qader, and Nasr, other types of cruises, namely ground cruise missiles, have been built in the defense industry with a range of at least 700 km.

Abu Mahdi, Hoveyzeh, Soomar, and Ya Ali (AS) are the three leading cruise missiles in this field. "Soomar", "Hoveyzeh" cruise missiles (with a range of 1350 km), and "Meshkat" (with a range of 2000 km) are among Iran's ground cruise missiles. Hoveyzeh cruise missiles should be considered as the latest achievement in this field which was unveiled in February 2, 2019, on the eve of the 40th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran in the presence of Brigadier-General Hatami, then Minister of Defense, and Brigadier-General Ali Hajizadeh, Commander of the  Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force, at the "Defense and Construction Achievements" exhibition called "Authority 40".

Overview

The Ministry of Defense considers the production of Hoveyzeh cruise missiles as an effective step in increasing the capability of the armed forces and the deterrent power of the country and has announced that this missile is the "long arm" of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the field of cruise missile defense. Brigadier-General Amir Hatami said at the unveiling ceremony that a Soomar family long-range cruise missile called "Hoveyzeh" is a missile to complete Iran's defense chain and make it as strong as possible.

Brigadier-General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, Commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force, also mentioned that we have been working in the field of cruise missiles for several years and said that we had a major obstacle in the field of jet engines and propulsion, which fortunately has been removed in recent years and the product has been built. Naturally, we will see these types of missiles, whether coast to the sea, air to land, or land to land cruise. Cruise missiles, such as the Hoveyzeh missile, weigh less than ballistic missiles and are easily transportable. In addition, using these missiles against the enemy is not easily intercepted because they move on near the ground.

Technical Specifications

The Hoveyzeh missile is a long-range cruise missile developed by experts in the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Support's Aerospace Industries. The Hoveyzeh missile is a ground cruise missile with radar evasion capability from the Soomar missile family. The missile is capable of destroying a wide range of targets due to its high tactical capabilities. The Hoveyzeh missile has the capability of "preparation and rapid response, low flight altitude, high navigation accuracy and hitting the target and high destructive power" and is used against fixed ground targets.

The stealth missile was delivered to the IRGC Aerospace Force after a successful test at a range of 1,200 km. The missile has a range of about 1350 km, which can easily strike Iran's targets in the region, including US regional bases. The length of the Hoveyzeh missile is about 6 meters, and its weight is more than one ton, which in this respect resembles the Hoveyzeh missile to the Soomar missile, however, careful consideration of the range of this missile shows that this characteristic has increased by about 600 km in the Hoveyzeh missile compared to the Soomar missile.

This increase in a range can only be attributed to Iran's acquisition of new knowledge in the field of cruise missile construction, which means combining the knowledge of defense specialists with knowledge-based companies. This has enabled power and innovation to help the defense industry to keep Iran up to date in this area as well as other areas. The accuracy of hitting the target of the Hoveyzeh missile is estimated at 1 meter.

The Debka File website of the Israeli regime, which analyzes military and security issues, published the news of the unveiling of the Hoveyzeh missile with the headline "Neither Israel nor the United States can counter Iran's new cruise missile", and attributed the unveiling and test of this missile in answering to the test of the "Arrow 3" missile made by the United States and Israel, which was unveiled on January 22, 2019.
