Moscow (IP) – Russian Foreign Minister says there are no obstacles on the part of Russia to restoring JCPOA.

Iran PressEurope: Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Iranian Foreign Minister went to Moscow on Tuesday to discuss the regional issues and the Vienna talks with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov.

Attending a joint press conference after meeting with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated: "There are no obstacles on the part of Russia to the restoration of JCPOA."

"Guarantees to Russia on resumption of JCPOA are received, included in agreement text, but not approved by every member country," Sergey Lavrov said.

"We are waiting for the US to return to the legal framework of this nuclear deal, and we are also waiting for the lifting of the illegal sanctions the US has imposed to hurt not only Iran and its people, but a number of other countries," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov pointed out.

During the meeting, Amir-Abdollahian appreciated the Russian negotiating team in the Vienna talks to reach an agreement in favor of lifting the sanctions upon Iran.

Moscow and Tehran stand for the early resumption of full implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on Iran's nuclear program (JCPOA), Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday following talks with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.

"We discussed in detail the current situation around the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on Iran's nuclear program," Lavrov said. "We are in favor of the earliest possible resumption of full implementation of this agreement, which was backed by the UN Security Council resolution, based on the original balance of interests contained therein.

"We are waiting for the US to return to the legal framework of this nuclear deal, and we are also waiting for the lifting of the illegal sanctions the US has imposed to hurt not only Iran and its people, but a number of other countries," Lavrov pointed out.

Iran's international nuclear agreement or the so-called Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was signed between the country and P5+1 countries (Russia, China, UK, Germany, France, and the US) in 2015, but the US scrapped it on May 18, 2018, re-imposing more sanctions on Iran.

Amir-Abdollahian also considered the meeting a good opportunity to discuss the developments in Ukraine, Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria, among other international issues.

The Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov for his part said that the agreement is on its way to being finalized. Lavrov said the trade between Iran and Russia set a record such that during the past year it increased up to 80 percent.
