Tehran (IP) - The Speaker of Iran's Parliament says Saudi Arabia's execution of a group of innocent people is against the basics of international law.

Iran PressIran news: Amid the hustles and bustles of the Western media and other international bodies against the Russian operation in Ukraine, Saudi Arabia beheaded 81 Muslims, and no one reacted to the executions.

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf called on the governments across the world to abandon double standards, condemn such heinous acts, and prevent them from being repeated.

"Unlike Western governments, the Islamic Republic of Iran opposes hypocritical approach to human rights and believes in the protection of human rights in all countries and at all levels," Ghalibaf said, stressing that Iran considers the continuation of such approaches as the abuse of human rights and inhumane.

He recalled the Ukrainian crisis and Iran's stance on the issue: "As the Leader of the Islamic Revolution emphasized, the Islamic Republic of Iran opposes war anywhere in the world, and while stressing the need to save the lives of civilians and end the war as soon as possible, invites the involved parties to diplomatic solutions."

The conflict in Ukraine began on February 24 after Russia announced a special military operation in response to the West’s failure to meet Moscow’s security demands.
