The UN General Assembly adopted on Wednesday a resolution to criticize the Russian operation in Ukraine.

Iran PressAmerica: Russian operation in Ukraine continues into the seventh day. It began on Thursday after President Vladimir Putin ordered his forces to enter Ukraine, following months of a heavy military build-up on the border. More than 600,000 civilians have fled Ukraine, according to the UN.

Putin says he had no other choice than to launch the military operation to stop the Ukrainian military’s interference in two eastern republics that have broken away from Ukraine. Russia perceives NATO’s eastward expansion as a threat.

The United Nations General Assembly adopted on Wednesday a resolution rebuking the Russian operation in Ukraine and calling Moscow to immediately withdraw all forces from Ukraine, Reuters reported.

The resolution, which won support from 141 of the 193-member body, came at the end of a rare emergency session of General Assembly called by the Security Council and as Russian forces' attack on Ukraine’s cities continued.
