Beirut (IP)- The Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Iran, in a meeting with representatives of cultural organizations active in Lebanon, stressed the need to expand cultural cooperation with countries in the region.

Iran PressIran News: Mohammad Mahdi Ismaili, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Iran, arrived in Lebanon on Saturday at the head of a cultural and artistic delegation, and upon his arrival in Beirut, he was officially welcomed by Lebanon's Minister of Culture and other Lebanese cultural and artistic officials.

According to Iran Press, Mohammad Mahdi Ismaili, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Iran, said in the meeting, "We are proud that the Lebanese brothers and sisters along with the Islamic Republic of Iran portrayed the sovereignty of the region and brotherhood between the people of these two countries by following the Imam Khomeini's school of thought is a model for the Islamic world."

Ismaili added, "Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah, as the leader of the resistance in Lebanon, is a symbol of governorship for us; he is the center of cultural activities in Lebanon, and the plan of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Iran will be to expand cultural activities in the region and holding the Cultural Week of the Islamic Republic in Lebanon is the beginning of these measures.

Iran's Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance has traveled to Lebanon to participate in Iran Cultural Week.

The event opens today, on Monday, with the performance of the National Orchestra of Iran.

Holding several roundtables and symposiums, setting up a large exhibition of Iranian handicrafts and arts along with the screening of Iranian films and Iranian music night are among the programs of the Cultural Week of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Lebanon.

The Cultural Week of the Islamic Republic of Iran is held in Lebanon with the aim of expanding and deepening the cultural and artistic relations and exchanges of the countries, as well as introducing and disseminating the rich effects of Iran's history.
