Tehran (IP) - The spokesman of Iran's government said in reaction to the developments in Ukraine that war was not a solution to the ongoing crisis in the European country.

Iran PressIran news: On Wednesday morning, Russian President Vladimir Putin officially announced a special military operation against Ukraine.  

Ali Bahadori-Jahromi wrote on his tweeter on Friday: "Neither is the war a solution to Ukraine nor reliance upon the US can bring security."

Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi said in a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin that the extension of NATO to the East was a threat to the stability and security of the independent countries.  

Russia says its operation in Ukraine is not the beginning of an invasion but an attempt to prevent a third world war. The US and Europe began to exert diplomatic and economic pressures on Russia.

Yet, the US and NATO have refused to dispatch forces to help Ukraine. 

Ukraine knew itself as an ally of the US.
