Three Iranian films won awards at the 72nd Berlin Film Festival.

Iran PressIran news: The jury announced the selected works of the 72nd Berlinale Film Festival on Wednesday night, after 6 days of competition.

The Berlinale Co-Production Market has awarded its top prize to the Iranian-French project My Favourite Cake.

The feature took home the Eurimages Co-Production Development Award, worth €20,000. It centers on an aging woman who dares to live her desires against society’s expectations. 

'See you Friday, Robinson' by Mitra Farahani won the Special Jury Award. The film has been co-produced by France, Switzerland, Iran, and Lebanon.

The jury’s statement about the movie reads, “The encounter of two poets in the autumn of their lives, orchestrated by the director with mischief and a loving yet discerning regard. A playful battle of egos, that doubles as an intimate and moving meditation on language, communication and artistic creation.”

Elsewhere, the Iranian short film 'Deer' directed by Hadi Babaeifar grabbed the Special Prize of the International Jury in Generation Kplus for the Best Short Film.

Carla Simon’s Alcarras won the Golden Bear at the 72nd Berlinale, in a ceremony held at the Berlinale Palast Wednesday evening.
