Iran Press/ Iran News: Saeed Khatibzadeh, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, answered reporters' questions in a weekly presser, explaining the latest developments in the field of foreign policy.
In response to a question about the Vienna talks and the US procrastination, Khatibzadeh said: "There is no stalemate in Vienna talks. Negotiations will continue as before. Talks between the delegations continue."
The spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs added: "Iran has made its political decisions for many years and has remained in the JCPOA and we are waiting for the response of Iran's initiatives from the Western parties. The stronger the will of the United States and the three European countries, the shorter the distance to reach an agreement."
Iran declares that the United States must reconsider its anti-human and anti-human rights behavior, he said. The world is different and America must take this message.
MFA spox highlights reaching agreements conditionally possible before February
Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh has noted that reaching an agreement with negotiating parties in Vienna talks is possible sooner than later provided that the parties react logically to Iran's initiatives.
In his presser on Monday answering a question on whether we will see an agreement before the Iranian New Year and the end of February, the high ranking official noted: "If the European sides and the United States respond to Iran's initiatives today within the framework of the JCPOA, and if the rights of the Iranian people and the logic that Iran has put on the table are observed, there is no need for the end of February and we can announce an agreement in Vienna tomorrow."
The Iranian diplomat noted: "The time to reach an agreement is inversely related to the will of the United States and the West. This agreement awaits the political decisions of the other side."
The spokesman stated: "The United States is not trustable, and objective guarantees must be obtained that the United States will not mock international law and international regimes again. Iran is looking for objective guarantees. Iran and the P4+1 are seeking guarantees from the United States."
Regarding the sanctions, he said: "All sanctions should be lifted in accordance with the JCPOA. It does not matter what their title is and what their fake labels are. All those who do not comply with the JCPOA and Resolution 2231 should be removed in one go."
Khatibzadeh also spoke about the latest developments in Ukraine and the measures taken for Iranians living in the country, stating: "Iran is following the events in Ukraine carefully and sensitively. We are concerned about the escalation of tensions between Ukraine and Russia. As a country with good relations with both countries, we try to invite the two sides to resolve their disputes peacefully. We are ready to make our efforts to bring the views of the two sides closer. The Eurasian region cannot witness another tension and war. The United States has shown that it is not learning from its mistakes by its unconstructive behaviors in Afghanistan, the Middle East, and the region over the past decades, and we must work to reduce tensions as much as possible. The Foreign Ministry has taken important steps regarding Iranian nationals living in Ukraine, and the Iranian embassy has issued the necessary notices and is in contact with Iranian residents. A direct line of communication has been established. Travel status has changed from normal to red. A 24-hour line has been announced at the consular department for Iranian citizens to call. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely monitoring the situation in Ukraine."
Khatibzadeh pointed out: "The embassy is in regular contact and communicates with students through the Islamic Association."
In response to a question about the neutralization of sanctions, he noted: "From the first day, the government gave a special mission to all its departments to take serious steps to neutralize the sanctions. The foreign ministry had and still has a special mission in this regard. The lifting of sanctions was meant to create a sanction-resistant foreign relations at the foreign ministry. We have started serious work with all countries in the region and outside the region, regardless of what is happening in Vienna and regardless of the outcome of Vienna talks, and some measures have borne fruit; the actions in the field of foreign policy are long-term, and we are happy that some have yielded results in this short time. We do not look to Vienna talks to design foreign relations. We base foreign relations and policy on the interests of the Iranian nation."
The diplomat elsewhere stated about the fifth round of talks between Iran and Saudi Arabia: "We have no new developments, and Iran is ready to hold this meeting. Whoever makes a miscalculation, the result will not be good. We are waiting for the will of Riyadh to resume these talks and announce our readiness."
In response to the question that in some countries the Bahman 22 march has been prevented, he also said: "In some countries, corona-related permits have not been issued; in some places we had talked, and permits had been obtained, but in general we did not have a problem in this regard."
On the judicial talks between Iran and Iraq on the case of the former Commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani martyred near Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020, Khatibzadeh also said: "Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has been following this issue seriously since the day he was introduced for this position, and several meetings were held inside the Foreign Ministry in the presence of members from institutions, including those of the Judiciary. The issue was discussed during Amir-Abdollahian's visit to Baghdad and talks with Iraqi officials."
