Vienna (IP) - Continuing the eighth round of the Vienna sanctions removal talks over the revival of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), more offers from Iran's side went on the table.

Iran PressEurope: The talks on removing sanctions in Vienna ended with Iranian top negotiator Ali Bagheri Kani meeting with the Russian, Chinese, and the European Union representatives at the Coburg Hotel on Saturday night.

A source close to the Iranian delegation in the Vienna talks told Iran Press that Tehran has put many offers on the table and encouraged the other side to come up with new proposals to resolve the outstanding issues.

"Putting proposals on the table is quite a normal practice in any negotiation, and negotiation in its essence is a business of exchanging proposals, counter-proposals, and offers," the source told Iran Press.

According to the informed Iranian source, the talks continue on the remaining issues for the sanctions removal in Vienna.

The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs Mehdi Safari also arrived in the Austrian capital to accompany the negotiating team in the meetings.

Russia's envoy to the Vienna talks, Mikhail Ulyanov, also said in a tweet that he had separate meetings with Enrique Mora, the coordinator of the Vienna talks, representatives of the E3 (France, Britain, and Germany), as well as Robert Mali, the US special envoy for Iranian Affairs, about the solutions ahead of the Vienna talks.

The eighth round of talks on lifting sanctions began in Vienna on December 27, 2021, and has resumed after a brief hiatus to consult delegations in their capitals.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian recently said in a telephone conversation with EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell that Iran is serious about reaching an agreement, but he also emphasized its determination to protect its red lines and national interests.

The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran stressed that some positive developments have taken place in the Vienna talks, but that they still do not meet Iran's expectations.
