Isfahan (IP) - The Chief Commander of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says even the US itself cannot endure the economic sanctions it imposed on Iran.

Iran PressIran News: Participating at a ceremony in Isfahan's Golpaygan, central Iran, to commemorate the martyrs of the city, Major General Hossein Salami said on Friday that the Iranian nation under the guidance of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei passed through the US-masterminded global plot of sanctions.

Iran's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Majid Takht-Ravanchi had earlier called the sanctions inhuman, immoral and illegal, and said that their extensive, devastating, and long-term consequences were as brutal as terrorism, and they were as criminal as war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Commander Salami said: "The enemies have recognized the power of the Islamic Republic in the region and are withdrawing; they utilized all means, but the masterpiece of Velayat (guardianship) in Iran was that it sapped the energy of the enemy during 43 years and inflicted the defeat on the great American empire."

The enemies wanted to envision an Iran it desired through provoking the Iranian nation against the state by hook or by crook, but the Iranian youth debased them, he pointed out, remembering the seizure of the vessel theft by the US pirates and the arrest of the American commandoes intruded Iran in Farsi Islands.

General Salaami referred to the corona pandemic and the hindrances the US and its allies made for Iran to stop it, but the country stood on its own feet, self-sufficient, and vaccinated its people with homemade vaccines.

"Therefore, wherever we became self-sufficient, the sanctions failed to work," IRGC commander noted.
