Tehran (IP) - Today, for the first time since the beginning of the Omicron variant, a city in Iran has turned red.

Iran PressIran News: According to the health ministry's statistics on Wednesday, one of Iran's cities is in red, 8 are in the orange zone, 114 are in yellow, and 325 cities are in the blue zone.

Over the last 24 hours, 11,851 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported, with 697 of them hospitalized, the ministry added.

The death toll from the pandemic in Iran has risen to 132,303, as 29 more Iranians have succumbed to the deadly disease in the last 24 hours, it said.

Of the patients diagnosed with coronavirus infection in Iran, 1,267 are in intensive care units of hospitals, the Iranian Health Ministry said.

The Health Ministry also said more than 6,088,367 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 6,279,410 sick people.

It went on to say that over 60,568,566 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, over 53,796,203 million have received the second dosage, and more than 15,548,417 million have gotten the booster shots, and the total number of vaccines injected in the country reached 129,913,186 doses.
