Chabahar (IP) - Welcoming ceremony of Russian and Chinese ships participating in the Trilateral Combined Naval Exercise, dubbed as "Maritime Security Belt 2022," was held by Iranian vessels.

Iran PressIran News: The Trilateral Combined Naval Exercise, dubbed as "Maritime Security Belt 2022," will start on Friday in the North Indian Ocean with Iran, China and Russia attending it.

According to Iran Press News Agency, after the welcoming ceremony of the Chinese and Russian fleets, a briefing and coordination meeting of the exercise were held in Chabahar port with representatives of Russia and China in attendance.

Rear-Admiral Mostafa Taj al-Dini, the spokesman for the exercise, had earlier said in a press conference: "This is the third combined naval exercise that will be held with Iran, China and Russia attending it."

Rear-Admiral Mostafa Taj al-Dini added: "The Combined Naval Exercise, Maritime Security Belt 2022 will be held under the slogan "Together for Peace and Security," in an area of ​​17,000 square kilometers."

"The exercise aims to strengthen security in the region, strengthen the security of maritime trade, combat piracy, and maritime terrorism and exchange information," he added.
