A senior Iranian MP and a member of the Iranian parliament's planning, budget and estimation commission, Abdol Reza Mesri , commenting on the currency exchange rate crisis, has said instead of managing the supply of foreign currencies, we actually stimulated demand for them, and this was a definite mistake.

In an exclusive interview with Iran Press on Sunday, member of parliament for Kermanshah, Abdol Reza Mesri said:  "When the currency crisis broke out, the Majlis (parliament ) opposed right from the beginning , the closing of all currency dealings and brokerages, with the government announcing that it is capable of supplying all the currency needs of the nation !"

Mesri added:  "Unfortunately it took 3 to 4 months for the government to finally do what it should have done right at the beginning ,  and the secondary market got off the ground'.

The MP for Kermanshah added:  "We believe that our foreign currency earnings should be bolstered . But what actually happened was the opposite of this.  Instead of managing the supply of foreign currency , we actually stimulated demand in foreign currencies , by saying that everyone could register for 4200 touman dollar, and a huge deluge of people registered".
