Iran Press/ Iran news: Rostam Ghasemi, the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran, said on Saturday night on the live TV program 'Negah Yek' of the Iranian Television Channel 1, stating that the railway connection between Iran and Iraq is important for both countries, adding: "The new agreement between the two countries specifies the start date for the construction of this railway line, and a joint venture must be formed for investment and operation within two months."
Ghasemi stated that this railway route is 32 km long and the important issue in the construction of this railway line is the construction of a bridge between Iran and Iraq.

The Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran stated: "The initial agreement to invest in this joint project is 50% of Iran and 50% of Iraq, and the completion time of this railway line is expected to be a maximum of two years."
The agreement to connect the Iranian railway to Iraq from the Shalamcheh axis, southwest of Iran, to the port of Basra, was signed by the officials of the two countries during the recent visit of Rostam Ghasemi, the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran to Iraq.
