Islamabad (IP) - The 17th extraordinary session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers kicked off in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad.

Iran PressAsia: The 17th extraordinary session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers to discuss the developments in Afghanistan began on Sunday in the city of Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, with the participation of various delegations, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to the Iran press, the emergency meeting of the foreign ministers of the Islamic countries began in the hall of the National Assembly of Pakistan in Islamabad.

The opening session began with a speech by the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Foreign Ministers of Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia.

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan is also scheduled to deliver the final speech at the meeting of Islamic Foreign Ministers. He previously wrote on his official Twitter page that the purpose of the emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation is to voice solidarity with the people of Afghanistan and a comprehensive consensus to help resolve the humanitarian crisis in the neighboring country.

According to the announced program, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, who is chairing the high-ranking political delegation of Iran in the meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, will deliver a speech to explain the latest positions of Iran in Afghanistan and developments in the region.

This is Dr. Amir- Abdollahian's first visit to Pakistan as Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran since his appointment.

Earlier, Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs called the inclusive Government with the participation of all ethnic groups in Afghanistan as the main strategy.

Furthermore; Iran's Foreign Minister and the Pakistani minister of state for parliamentary affairs held talks in Islamabad. 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran arrived in the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad, on Sunday morning, local time, to attend an extraordinary meeting of the OIC member states with the agenda of reviewing the situation in Afghanistan.
