Sistan and Baluchestan (IP) - South Korea and UN Development Program (UNDP) will cooperate in easing the pressures on the Hamun Lake in southeastern Iran.

Iran PressIran news: Director-General of environment department of Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan, Vahid Pourmardan said that the revival of Hamun Lake would get more acceleration with the cooperation of international organizations and the experience of the developed countries.

This project will change the level of jobs and salaries of local people.

The UNDP representative to Iran, Claudio Provides, for his part, appreciated the moves to save the lake and announced the UNDP's readiness to cooperate for the implementation of long and short-term objectives of the plans with regards to the regional priorities. 

Hamun is the third largest lake in Iran after the Caspian Sea and Urmia Lake and the seventh-largest international wetland.

It also is one of the biosphere reserves in Iran.
