Tehran(IP): The secretary of the Iran-US Strategic Council on Foreign Relations blamed the United States for the current situation in Afghanistan.

Iran PressIran news: According to Iran Press News Agency on Sunday, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Secretary of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations of Iran, during a meeting with Mette Knudsen, United Nations' Deputy Special Representative (Political) for Afghanistan, stated:

"The US presence in the West Asian region has caused turmoil for the people of the region."

The Secretary of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations of Iran said that the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to pursue a regional approach to resolve the problems of Afghanistan, forming an inclusive government in Kabul, ensuring security in this country as well as border security with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Appreciating Iran's effective role in Afghanistan and the reception of Afghan refugees and asylum seekers, Knudsen emphasized the need to maintain and continue UN consultations with Iran on the situation in Afghanistan.

The United Nations' Deputy Special Representative (Political) for Afghanistan, meanwhile, explained the situation in Afghanistan and called on the international community to pay serious attention to the fundamental problems of the Afghan people, especially Regarding the fact that winter is approaching.

The US military left Afghanistan in humiliation, disgrace, and defeat in late August after 20 years of occupation and destruction of its economic infrastructure.

The Taliban have also been in power in Afghanistan since August 15.
