Zahra Ershadi

UN(IP)- The Iranian ambassador and deputy representative to the United Nations condemned a draft resolution proposed by Canada against Iran.

Iran PressAmerica: Zahra Ershadi said on Wednesday in response to the draft human rights resolution against Iran: "This biased and unconstructive resolution that is going to be voted in the third committee is a dishonest and indefensible political move and reflects the hostile and deliberate policy of inciting others to Iranophobia."

Ershadi pointed out: "Examining the list of main supporters of the draft resolution, such as Canada, the United States, the child-killing regime of Israel and some Western countries, reveals the fact that the main supporters of racism, occupation and those who committed heinous killings of indigenous people have gathered to preach human rights to others."

She added: "Most member states have repeatedly rejected the use of human rights as a tool to achieve political goals and stressed the need to promote and protect human rights in all countries through dialogue, interaction and constructive cooperation."

Stating that Iran has always wanted to participate in respectful and fair dialogue to understand the existing and inevitable facts, Ershadi stressed: "Unfortunately, our efforts have been neglected because the proponents of this resolution seem more interested in gaining political advantage through the instrumental use of human rights."

Iran's ambassador and deputy permanent representative to the United Nations continued: "Iran has always shown its determination to help promote and protect human rights and is committed to cooperating with member states as well as UN human rights mechanisms."

Ershadi concluded: "It is time to express our solemn protest to the self-proclaimed heroes of human rights who seek to deprive independent countries of their freedom through influence, deception and providing false information."
