Malaysia reported another 6,517 new COVID-19 infections as of midnight Friday, bringing the national total to 2,535,338, according to the health ministry.

Iran PressAsia: Xinhua News Agency reported according to the data released on the ministry's website that sixteen of the new cases are imported, with 6,501 being local transmissions.

Another 41 more deaths have been reported, bringing the death toll to 29,576.

Another 6,026 patients have been released after recovery, bringing the total number of cured and discharged to 2,441,485.

There are 64,277 active cases, 543 are being held in intensive care and 268 of those are in need of assisted breathing.

The country reported 114,704 vaccine doses administered on Friday alone and some 78.4 percent of the population have received at least one dose and 75.9 percent are fully vaccinated. 

Vietnam reports 8,982 new COVID-19 cases

Vietnam reported 8,982 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, including 8,976 locally transmitted and six imported, according to its Ministry of Health.

Most of the community cases were detected in southern localities, including 1,388 in Ho Chi Minh City, 813 in Dong Nai province, and 661 in An Giang province.

The infections brought the total tally to 1,009,879, with 22,930 deaths, said the ministry. Nationwide, as many as 856,211 patients have so far recovered, up 10,263 from Thursday.

Nearly 97 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines, including some 33 million second doses, have been administered, according to the ministry.

As of Friday, the country has registered a total of 1,004,879 locally transmitted COVID-19 cases since the start of the current wave in late April, the ministry said.

Singapore reports 3,099 new COVID-19 cases

Singapore reported 3,099 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the total tally in the country to 233,176.

Of the new cases, 2,965 were in the community, 128 were in migrant worker dormitories and six were imported cases, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in a press release.

A total of 1,616 patients are currently warded in hospitals, with 280 cases requiring oxygen supplementation in the general wards, 31 cases being unstable and under close monitoring in the intensive care units (ICUs), and 75 cases being critically ill and intubated in the ICUs. The current overall ICU utilization rate is 67 percent.

Fourteen more patients have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection, bringing the death toll to 562, the ministry said.
