Baghdad (IP) - Iraqi president reacted to the failed assassination of Mustafa al-Kazemi, calling the assassination attempt on the prime minister a dangerous and heinous crime against the nation.

Iran PressMiddle East: Barham Salih wrote on his Twitter account that the assassination attempt on the Prime Minister was a very dangerous act and a shameful crime against the Iraqi people.

The Iraqi president stressed: "We do not accept dragging the country into chaos and coup against the constitutional system."

He further called for the prosecution and punishment of those who endanger the security of Iraq and the health of the nation.

In a statement, Ammar Hakim, the leader of the Iraqi National Wisdom Movement, also condemned the attack on the prime minister's house and the attempted assassination of Mustafa al-Kazemi, saying that the move would jeopardize the country's achievements.

Hakim's statement said that this action could lead to a crisis of positions and would endanger the government's authority and damage the image of Iraq in the eyes of the world public opinion.

The statement stressed that targeting the country's top executive is a risky development that, if not managed wisely, will lead to more dangerous incidents and jeopardize all the security, political and economic achievements of the country.

In a statement on Sunday morning, Iraq's Security Media Cell said that the assassination attempt on al-Kazemi had failed when a drone bombed his residence in Baghdad's Green Zone.
