Baghdad (IP) - Clashes erupted on Friday in Baghdad between Iraqi security forces and demonstrators protesting against the results of last month’s parliamentary elections.

Iran PressMiddle East: Hundreds of protesters threw stones at security forces and attempted to storm a gate of the Green Zone, home to government offices and foreign embassies in Baghdad, the witnesses added.

Security forces fired in the air to disperse the demonstrators.

The violence left two protesters dead and dozens injured on both sides, witnesses said.

Early parliamentary elections were held in Iraq on 10 October 2021.
