Tehran(IP): The First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran said that the security and stability of Afghanistan's neighbors are intertwined with the security of this country.

Iran PressIran News: Speaking at the second meeting of the foreign ministers of Afghanistan's neighboring countries in Tehran on Wednesday, the first Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Mokhber stated: "Afghanistan's neighbors have deeply rooted historical and cultural ties with this country, and from this perspective, it can be said that there is a kind of both nature and destiny between Afghanistan and its neighbors that tie security, stability and peace together in Central and South Asia.

"The people of Afghanistan have been experiencing instability, insecurity, war and bloodshed for more than four decades," said the first vice president of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

"The 20-year occupation of Afghanistan by the United States has had no effect on the Afghan people other than increasing insecurity, extremism, the rise of terrorism and economic backwardness," he added.

Mokhber further explained: "The irrational policies and irresponsible, ill-considered and unilateral actions of the United States, which cost more than 2.5 billion dollars, were accompanied by a complete failure."

The first vice president of the Islamic Republic of Iran said: "We must remove the obstacles to form a strong and national government in Afghanistan and help that government ensure security and fundamental reconstruction of the country."

"Although we consider the defeat of the US military occupation as an opportunity for the people of Afghanistan and the countries of the region, it should be noted that by fleeing Afghanistan, the US has blamed the people of Afghanistan and its neighbors for two decades of inefficiency and occupation."

Pointing out that Afghanistan is facing numerous humanitarian, security and economic crises today, the first vice president of the Islamic Republic of Iran said: "Takfiri terrorism, including ISIS, is active in the region as a US proxy force and has targeted the security of its people."

Afghans deserve safe, secure country

Iran’s first vice president said that Afghanistan’s people deserve a safe and secure country.

Speaking at the second meeting of foreign minister of Afghanistan's neighboring countries, Mohammad Mokhber called the situation in Afghanistan a combination of hope and worrisome.

Iran's first vice president added the situation is worrying due to the insecurity, and at the same time, Afghans hope to have a safe and secure country.

Peace and security in the neighboring countries affect the safety of Afghanistan since they have historical and cultural connections.

Two decades ago, the US and its allies in NATO invaded Afghanistan, which brought nothing except insecurity, terrorism, and economic difficulties.

"The US irrational, reckless and unilateral policy in Afghanistan, which cost more than two and a half trillion dollars, was a complete failure," he said.

"Washington even failed in state-building, which was merely an excuse to continue occupying the country," he highlighted.

He added: "It will not be forgotten that no occupier can bring security, peace, stability and prosperity to the occupied territories, nor can relying on foreigners keep any government afloat."

"Although we consider the US defeat as an opportunity for the people of Afghanistan and the countries in the region, it should be noted that by fleeing Afghanistan, the US has blamed the people of Afghanistan and its neighbors for two decades of inefficiency and occupation," he ended.
