In a meeting with the former Iraqi prime minister on Tuesday, Foreign Minister called Iran and Iraq two everlasting friends and brothers.

Iran Press/Iran news: Hossein Amir Abdullahian said during the meeting that the two countries have a lot of political, economic, cultural, and popular capacities that could be further enhanced.

He reiterated Iran's determination to develop relations with the Iraqi government.

Amir Abdullahian added that Iran has always supported peace and stability in Iraq and its constructive role in regional relations, and respects the will of the Iraqi people in political decisions.

For his part, Adel Abdul-Mahdi pointed to the numerous commonalities between Iran and Iraq in various fields and considered them a great asset for the closeness of the governments and the nations of the two countries.
