Iran Press/ commentary: The people of Afghanistan have more than two decades fallen victim to US warmongering policies and are now the target of ISIS terrorist crimes that have infiltrated Afghanistan with US support.
In recent months, ISIS has targeted Shias mosques with the aim of creating divisions between Shias and Sunnis.
This is the second terrorist attack in Afghanistan. The first blast occurred in the second week of Taliban rule in Afghanistan near Kabul airport. About 200 people, including children and women, were killed in the attack, which was also claimed by ISIS's Khorasan branch.
A few weeks ago, an explosion took place near the Eidgah Mosque in Kabul, killing at least eight people and injuring 20 others. ISIS carried out a terrorist attack on a mosque in Kandahar, while earlier 46 people had been killed in an explosion at the Sayed Abad Shia mosque in Kunduz province, which ISIS claimed responsibility for.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has condemned these crimes and expressed concern over the continuation of these terrorist incidents. The failure of the Taliban interim government in the face of ISIS terrorist acts and the continuation of criminal activities in Afghanistan is, of course, a major problem that must be addressed seriously.

Another important issue is the responsibilities of the Islamic world and the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Islamic countries, despite their considerable potential, have not taken effective action in the fight against terrorism and ISIS.
From 2001, when Afghanistan was occupied by the United States, until a few months ago, when Washington declared an irresponsible exit from the country, the Afghan people have always been the victims of this White House and NATO (The North Atlantic Treaty Organization) presence and adventure.
All these years were passed in silence and inaction of human rights organizations and institutions. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which should be the support and defender of the rights of Muslim nations in practice has delayed fulfilling its responsibilities a lot.
Currently, the situation of the Afghan people is very worrying and the need to provide security for all political spectrums and ethnic-religious groups is strongly felt. Undoubtedly, the Afghan crisis will enter a more serious phase if strict security measures are not taken and the inability to confront terrorist elements continues.
In this difficult situation, the Islamic Republic of Iran considers itself by the side of the people of Afghanistan and is ready to assist and cooperate in all possible ways to create sustainable stability and security for the people of Afghanistan.
The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, in a telephone call with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Monday night, also expressed concern over the situation in Afghanistan and called for serious action by the UN Secretary-General in halting and combating terrorism in Afghanistan.
