Commentary: Lebanon exposed to US conspiracies

On Thursday, a number of Lebanese people gathered in front of the Lebanese courthouse in Beirut to protest the performance of 'Tarek Bitar', the judge investigating the case of the bombing of the port of Beirut in the summer of 2020.

Iran PressMiddle East: In a hasty, non-judicial, but also political decision, Bitar issued an arrest warrant for a number of former Lebanese ministers and MPs.

The people protested peacefully when they were suddenly confronted by heavy gunfire from unknown gunmen, killing seven and injuring more than sixty others.

Following the incident, Hezbollah and the Amal movement issued a joint statement stating that the perpetrators of the attack on the demonstrators were groups affiliated with the party of Samir Geagea, a leader of the Saudi-backed March 14 group.

The incident came at a time when the US ambassador to Lebanon, Dorothy Shea, has just launched a series of anti-Resistance measures that appear to be aimed at destabilizing the country. One of the main reasons for these destabilizing measures seems to be the success of Lebanese groups in forming a government and trying to solve the country's problems; the success which Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri was failed to achieve via forming the government in 13 months, and as a result, the March 14 pro-Western group seeks to escalate the internal turmoil in Lebanon by creating unrest. Such developments and actions in Lebanon against the resistance will not take place without the US administration behind the scene.

In this regard, Hashem Safi al-Din, Chairman of the Executive Council of Hezbollah, stated that the Beirut incident was one of the actions taken by the US Embassy.

Noting that the Lebanese people were quite peacefully protesting against the political performance of the judiciary and its decisions, the Lebanese Forces party affiliated with Samir Geagea ambushed and decided to kill the protesters in order to start another civil war in Lebanon.

Of course, it is worth noting that the US ambassador to Lebanon, with the support of some Arab regimes in the region, is making such moves, which the Hezbollah official also stressed that the US embassy's measures are funded by some Arab states, including Saudi Arabia.

The Beirut shooting incident is, in fact, the second of its kind. Similar sedition took place in Lebanon in early August. A riot broke out at the funeral of Lebanese Hezbollah member Ali Shebli in Khalde, south of Beirut, killing four people and injuring about ten others.

In fact, the Khalde incident also occurred when Najib Mikati had just been missioned to form a cabinet. Thus, Lebanon has been the target of conspiracies and seditions by the United States and its internal mercenaries for months, and Hezbollah's successes in providing fuel to the country have angered them even more.

In this regard, the Lebanese people, however, are aware of the existing realities of the country, and their support for Hezbollah in the issue of importing fuel from the Islamic Republic of Iran and their scenes of joy and happiness confirm this.
