Tehran (IP) - The first international conference honoring school-building donors living abroad was held this evening at Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran.

Iran PressIran News: This conference, held on Saturday, was attended by Alireza Kazemi, acting minister of education of Iran, officials of the School Renovation Organization, and some school-building charities abroad.

A memorandum of understanding was also signed at the conference by Kazemi and Nasser Ghofli, the director of the School-Building Donors Association, to expand the school building.

After signing the memorandum, the acting minister of education said: "The Iranian School-Building Donors Association is the proudest non-governmental organization in Iran, which has succeeded in building 50% of schools for 20 years."

He added: "In addition to building schools, the great achievement of the Iranian school-building charity community is the promotion of charitable work in Iran, charities that have invested up to 3,000 billion tomans of their personal property in school construction."

The statue of three Iranian school-building benefactors living abroad was unveiled at the conference.
