Iran Press/ Europe: Iran's Parliamentary Delegation met with the Chairman of the Environment Commission of the Italian Parliament Alcia Rota.
During the meeting, the two sides stressed the need for bilateral cooperation in various environmental areas, including green technologies and the promotion of environmental standards.
The Iranian parliamentary delegation is in Italy to participate in the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as COP26, that is to be held in the Italian Parliament.
An Iranian PM and a member of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Mehdi Farshadan assessed the meeting positive and said: "Such sessions will bring good results, especially for the future, with the aim of controlling greenhouse gas emissions and reducing global carbon emissions, to save the earth and preserve the environment."
Also a member of the Commission of Agriculture, Water, and Natural Resources of the Iranian Parliament Alireza Nazari described the people's demand to save the environment and reduce the polluters in both national and international levels as a turning point to the new approach of the world to environment.
The UN Climate Change Conference COP 26 kicked off yesterday hosted by the Italian House of Representatives and with the participation of the IPU and the United Nations and will end today.
There in the meeting MPs and heads of 72 countries' parliaments and 8 international organizations are present.
The conference discusses global goals for tackling climate change, the green approach to improving living conditions during the COVID-19 era, the financing of global climate change policies, and the role of parliaments in achieving the goals of the conference.
