Isfahan (IP) - The 34th International Film Festival for Children and Youth (ICFF) started with the motto 'Cinema, the Land of Imagination' at the Isfahan International Conference Center.

Iran PressIran news: The secretary of the 34th International Film Festival for Children and Youth (IFFCY), Alireza Tabesh said at the opening ceremony on Friday night that this edition of the festival can be considered as a festival of cinema products for the most important generation of the next century; a generation that must redefine the country in the new world and protect its power, culture, pride, and identity.”

The festival has brought a smile to children by performing happy programs.

Performing a combination of arts, music, and puppetry by children and youth and artists was part of the opening ceremony.

The TV comedy group 'Jenab Khan' was also present at the opening ceremony.

This edition of the festival opened while Iran is going through the 5th wave of COVID-19 disease and Iranian children, like children from other countries, experiencing such rainy days.

“Although the tragedy of this pandemic is terrible, at least it assures us that the next generation, from an early age, has experienced and learned to deal with difficult circumstances and pay due attention to the importance of cooperation and teamwork in the face of major crises,” Tabesh added.

The secretary of the 34th International Film Festival for Children and Adolescents said: “We will open this year’s festival in the name and memory of the heroic and self-sacrificing teenager 'Ali Landi'.

Ali Landi was an Iranian teenager who died of a severe burn which he suffered when trying to rescue two elderly women from a building fire. 

The 34th International Film Festival for Children and Youth started October 8 will last to 13, 2021, in collaboration with the Iranian Cinema Organization, Farabi Cinematic Foundation, and Isfahan Municipality.

Due to the outbreak of the new coronavirus, the ICFF is being held virtually and in person.
