Iran Press/ Asia: US Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin spoke by phone with the Turkish Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar to discuss opportunities to increase and strengthen the defense ties and to share perspectives on regional issues, including the shared threat from terrorism.
Austin reaffirmed the great value the United States places on its defense relationship with Turkey.
The two sides discussed the continuing talks on the operation and security of Hamid Karzai International Airport in the capital Kabul, said Turkey's National Defense Ministry, adding that the two officials decided to continue the discussions.
