Tehran(IP): Iran's Deputy Oil Minister in Gas affairs announced that Iran is ready to renew the agreement on gas imports to Iraq.

Iran PressIran News: Majid Ghegeni said in a meeting with the senior officials of the Iraqi ministry of electricity: "Iran's ties with Iraq are strategic and apart from the economic ties we share cultural and deep and religious relations which are of high importance. Therefore, the more cooperation, especially in energy, the deeper and more tangible they would be."

While asking the Iraqi side to abide by the current contracts and previous agreements, Chegeni added: "We are ready to consider new proposals from the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity to extend the gas export contract to that country."

Earlier in the day, Iranian Oil Minister Javad Oji, in a meeting with Iraqi Electricity Minister Adel Karim, said that talks with various parties to increase gas exports and trade were among President Ebrahim Raisi administration's priorities.
