4th Sharjah Masters International 2021:
Iran's GM Parham Maghsoodloo

Iran's chess player, Parham Maghsoodloo, joined the super Grand Master club.

Iran Press/Middle East: Parham Maghsoudloo, in the 4th Sharjah Masters International 2021, won the title of super Grand  Master.

Maghsoudloo passed the rating of 2700, finally succeeded in making this title. He could have reached this position sooner, but the spread of coronavirus and the cancellation of face-to-face games led him to win the title now.

Now Maghsoudloo is ranked 37th in the world with a live rating of 2700.6. Only 38 chess players have the super Grand Master title.

It should be noted that the other Iranian Grandmaster, Mohammad-Amin Tabatabai, became the champion of the competition.

Grandmaster (GM) is a title awarded to chess players by the world chess organization FIDE. And super grandmaster (super-GM) is an informal term to refer to the world's elite players, usually players who are serious contenders for the World Championship.

In the past, this would refer to players with ratings of over 2600, but as the average rating of the top players has increased it has come to refer to players with ratings of over 2700.

The 4th Sharjah Masters International 2021, a chess 9-round Swiss tournament, was held from the 17th to the 25th of September, in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
