Iran Press/ America: The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran on Friday met with Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, referring to the seven-decade history of diplomatic relations between the two countries, said: "Iran Relations with Asia is one of the main priorities and among Asian countries, Indonesia is one of the priority countries for Iran's foreign policy."
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian recalled the talks between the two countries on expanding cooperation in various fields, including health, industry, agriculture, and technology, stressed the readiness of the Islamic Republic of Iran to hold a joint commission at the earliest time, as well as to finalize the preferential trade agreement.
Amir-Abdollahian also thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran for Indonesia's support in international forums.
During the meeting, the Indonesian Foreign Minister described the maintenance and promotion of relations with Tehran as important for Jakarta and announced his readiness to hold a joint commission between the two countries.
Marsudi thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran for exporting pharmaceutical items to Indonesia and announced its readiness to expand trade relations with Iran.
The Indonesian Foreign Minister also stressed the need to follow up on previous agreements between the two countries.
The two sides also discussed the latest situation in Afghanistan.
