Iran Press/ Middle East: Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the spokesman of the Yemeni Armed Forces, on Thursday announcing the details of the major offensive against the Saudi backed mercenaries and remnants of the two takfiri terrorists, affiliated with al-Qaeda and ISIS groups, said that with liberating Al-Soma’a, Musawara, and Mukayra districts a total area of 2700 square kilometers has been freed within 48 hours.
He added that about 230 Takfiri members, US-Saudi mercenaries were killed, injured, and captured during the Al-Horiah operation.
General Saree added that the Yemeni Army and Popular Committees captured 40 of the terrorists, including commanders, and manage to destroy or seize much of the enemy’s ammunition and gear.
"During the operation, US-Saudi warplanes launched over 30 raids in an attempt to support their mercenaries and rocketry and drone units of Yemeni Armed Force, carried out 10 operations targeting US-Saudi sites," Yahya Saree said.
The spokesman also noted that the Sanna government forces also managed to free a number of Yemeni citizens who were taken hostage by the Takfiri elements.
Yemen has been since March 2015 under brutal aggression by the Saudi-led coalition. Tens of thousands of Yemenis have been injured and martyred in Saudi-led strikes, with the vast majority of them are civilians.
The coalition has been also imposing a blockade on the impoverished country’s ports and airports as a part of his aggression which is aimed at restoring power to fugitive former president Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi.
Meanwhile, Yemen is home to the world’s largest humanitarian crisis, with at least 7 million people on the brink of famine and hundreds of thousands suffering from cholera.
