Iran Press/ Iran news: Delivering a speech in the ceremony of marking the start of the Sacred Defense Week and honoring one million veterans of Sacred Defense (referring to the 8-year war imposed by the Baathist regime of Saddam Hussain against Iran in which Iran defended its sovereignty and soil by sacrifice and resilience), Ebrahim Raisi said: “Ashura ritual was a new start, and we know many famous forerunners by Ashura event who conveyed the message of Imam Hussain’s uprising.”
“The philosophy of Imam Hussein’s uprising was to bring the nations out of ignorance and save them from misguidance,” he pointed out.
Referring to the position of Iran’s president among the society, the president noted that he takes the first step in everything.
Raisi concluded that the ceremony which commemorates the martyrs must be done in the best way since it guides the society and fights with modern ignorance.
In Iran, Sacred Defense Week is commemorated every year from September 21st.
Honoring defense week, the ceremony began in the presence of Iran’s president Ebrahim Raisi, Iran's Army Commander Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, the Chief Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Hossein Salami, and Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Mohammad Bagheri.
During the ceremony, the families of sacred defense's martyrs, martyrs of the fight against the COVID pandemic and veterans were honored by the president.
