Tehran (IP): The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran traveled to Dushanbe on Thursday at the official invitation of the President of Tajikistan to attend the Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).

Iran PressIran news: On his first foreign trip as president, Ebrahim Raisi will travel to the country at the official invitation of his Tajik counterpart, Emomali Rahmon, to attend and address the SCO summit.

In addition to attending the summit, the president will hold bilateral meetings with the heads of delegations present at the SCO summit. The President will be accompanied on this trip by a high-ranking delegation of political and economic officials of Iran.

President Raisi will also have a bilateral meeting with the President of Tajikistan after the Shanghai Summit.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation was established in 2001 to combat terrorism and extremism and increase economic cooperation, and the Islamic Republic of Iran has been one of its observer members.
