Iranian FM Hossein Amir-Abdollahian (R) and Ismail Haniyeh

The head of the political bureau of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) consulted with the Iranian Foreign Minister in a telephone conversation.

Iran PressMiddle East: On Saturday, Ismail Haniyeh, head of the Hamas political bureau, called Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian to congratulate him on his appointment as foreign minister and appreciated Iran's support for the Palestinian people and the resistance.

The Iranian Foreign Minister also praised the struggle and resistance of Palestinian men and women against the occupying Israeli regime, especially their resistance in the battle of Saif al-Quds. 

He called resistance the only way to liberate Palestine and end the occupation of Palestinian land.

Amir-Abdollahian also said: "The Islamic Republic of Iran, as in the past, supports the struggle for the liberation of the Palestinian people and the formation of an independent Palestinian state."

Condemning the continuation of Israeli crimes against Palestinian women and children, the Iranian Foreign Minister added that Iran supported the political plan of holding a referendum and the right of the Palestinian people to determine their own fate.
