Iranian Foreign Minister:

Tehran (IP): Iranian Foreign Minister said that resistance to oppression and struggles for freedom continue across the globe.

Iran PressIran news: Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said in a Twitter message on the Day of Ashura: “Despite the wishes of a long line of oppressors, the battle against tyranny did not end in Karbala, or in 670 CE.”

FM Zarif noted: “14 centuries later, resistance to oppression and struggles for freedom continue across the globe. On Ashura 2021 Hussein's beacon shines on.”

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh also wrote in a Twitter message: Ashura's solemn messages of sacrifice for values and truth; dignified resistance against tyranny; and insistence on moral principles has resonated throughout history and inspired freedom and justice-seeking consciences.”

“Those lessons guide us in our righteous strive for our people's rights,” he added.

The Prophet Muhammad's grandson, Imam Hussein (AS), third Shia Imam, and his companions were martyred in the battle of Karbala (in the year 61 AH (October 10, 680 CE in) Iraq to promote Justice and fight against oppression. The day is commonly known as Ashura.
