Tehran (IP) - By fully observing the health protocols, the Iranians held rituals to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions at Imam Hussein Square in Tehran and all over the country on the Day of Ashura.

Iran PressIran news: On the day of Ashura, the mourners renewed their allegiance with the third Shia Imam. Other people mourned for Imam Hussein in their homes.

Due to the fifth coronavirus wave, Iranians have held mourning ceremonies in open spaces, and no mourning marches were allowed in the streets across the country.

The Prophet Muhammad's grandson, Imam Hussein (AS), third Shia Imam, and his companions were martyred in the battle of Karbala (in the year 61 AH (October 10, 680 CE in) Iraq to promote Justice and fight against oppression. The day is commonly known as Ashura.
