Tehran (IP) - Iranian from all walks of life to mark the Ashura will participate in mourning processions in all the cities and towns of the country following coronavirus guidelines.

Iran PressIran news: Ashura is the 10th day of Muharram. In the year 61 AH (October 10, 680 CE), Imam Hussein (PBUH) and his true companions were martyred in the battle against the Kufa army led by 'Umar b. Sa'd. This day is significant for Shia due to what occurred in Karbala on this day.

This year, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Muharram mourning ceremonies in all Iranian cities and provinces are held in the open air, observing strict corona protocols, social distancing, and wearing a mask.

Thousands of people of Tehran, dressed in black, gathered in Eram Park on Wednesday night in a mourning ceremony on the eve of the Ashura.
