Vladimir Alekno:

Tehran (IP)- Former head coach of the Iran national volleyball team said the Iranian Volleyball Federation did everything for the national team's success in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Iran PressIran news: Responding to Iran Press question in an online press conference on Thursday morning, Vladimir Alekno said: "For the tenth time, I declare that from the very first day of my presence in Iran, the Volleyball Federation of Iran provided everything it could for the national volleyball team."

He noted that the Iranian Volleyball Federation did not fail to meet the demands of the technical staff of the national volleyball team.

"However, my only mistake was that at the request of the Iranian Volleyball Federation, I agreed to have 30 volleyball players in the national volleyball team camp, which was the biggest blow to the preparation of the team," he added.

"To get to know the players better, I tried to invite more volleyball players to the camp of the Iranian national volleyball team, but  it did  not happen," he explained.

"It is my fault that the Iranian national volleyball team did not succeed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and the players of the team should not be blamed for it," he stated.

Behrooz Ataiee is currently the Head Coach of the Iranian national volleyball team.

Iran's national volleyball team faces the Asian Championship, which will be held from September 12 to 19 in Japan, and will go to training camp from August 15.

In the Asian Championship, Iran is grouped with Hong Kong, Thailand, and Pakistan, which will play versus them on September 12, 13, and 14, respectively.
