IRGC Chief Cmr: Great Jihad and revolutionary spirit necessary in new anti-COVID-19 campaign

Tehran (IP) - The Chief- Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps urged Iran's new start for the campaign against COVID-19 to contain it, saying a great Jihad and revolutionary spirit is needed.

Iran PressIran news: Major General Hossein Salami, Chief Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps, on Thursday in a joint meeting with Saeed Namaki, Minister of Health, Iran and Basij (Voluntary Force) Chief Brigadier General Gholamreza Soleimani said: "We must start again to confront coronavirus and give a national call for all people to contribute."

The IRGC Chief Commander stated that the Iranian people have gone through the most difficult crises, adding: "We must show this spirit again."

According to Major General Salami: "Today we need Jihad (struggle or fight against the enemies of Islam) and revolution, and with a great jihad we must dismantle this virus.

Saying that this meeting was formed following the orders of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Major General Salami said: "Yesterday's statement of the Leader of the Revolution was the agenda of the National Jihad to confront the coronavirus."

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution, at a time when the situation of the coronavirus in Iran and the world is becoming critical, considered the fight against the COVID-19 as the first and urgent issue in Iran.

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, in a televised message to the officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran on Wednesday, stressed the need to carry out decisive tasks and make decisions to combat COVID-19, saying: "The vaccine will be provided to all people through imports and domestic production in any possible way."
