Iran calls on parties in Afghanistan to end conflict, fratricide

Tehran (IP) - Iran Foreign Ministry issued a statement and stressed the country called on all parties to the war in Afghanistan to end the conflict and fratricide and seek a negotiated solution; Iran also declared readiness to continue and host these talks.

Iran PressIran news: In this statement issued on the eve of the anniversary of the terrorist incident of the martyrdom of Iranian diplomats and journalists in Mazar-e-Sharif, it is written: "August 8 is a reminder of one of the most bitter days for the diplomacy of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Twenty-three years ago, on such a day, Iranian diplomats and a journalist were cowardly martyred at the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan despite all commitments, international treaties and Islamic and human logic."

The statement read: "International sympathy and sympathy with the people and government of Iran in the wake of this terrorist incident and the expression of special sympathy from the oppressed people of Afghanistan, who were themselves victims of terrorism, highlighted another brilliant manifestation of deep ties between the people of the two countries, the ties that have always been formed in the midst of unjust wars against the oppressed and suffering people of Afghanistan, the mutual support of the Iranian people for their oppressed brothers and sisters in Afghanistan.

Emphasizing that the deep and true ties between the two nations of Iran and Afghanistan leave no choice but to adopt constructive approaches that serve the interests of both countries, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced: "The people and government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as in the past, stand by their brothers and sisters in Afghanistan and support any solution that will help end more than four decades of war."

According to the statement, commemorating the martyrs of this incident and strongly condemning the terrorist act, the Islamic Republic of Iran continues to clarify the hidden dimensions of this case as a definite demand of the Iranian government and people.

Finally, the Iranian Foreign Ministry called on all parties to the war in Afghanistan to end the conflict, fratricide and seek a negotiable solution.
