Entry of 1.1 million doses of Chinese corona vaccine to Iran

Tehran(IP) - Assistant Foreign Minister and Director General of Asia-Pacific department Reza Zabib said about the entry of 1.1 million doses of a new package of Chinese corona vaccine in the country.

On Sunday, 01 August, Karim Hemmati, Head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS), said the tenth consignment of COVID-19 in total 11,520,000 doses of COVID vaccine purchased by the society entered Iran and delivered to the officials of the Health Ministry at the point of arrival in Imam Khomeini Airport.

Also, on Saturday, 31 July, Iran received the third consignment of the COVID-19 AstraZeneca vaccine from Japan.

So far, the number of vaccines imported from Japan to Iran has reached 2 million 911 thousand and 810 doses.

Vaccines imported from several countries, including Russia, India, Italy, South Korea, and Japan, have been imported to Iran.

Mass vaccination against COVID-19 started on Iranian citizens with Sputnik V on February 9.

The Islamic Republic is currently producing vaccines jointly with three countries of Cuba, Russia, and Australia, which may also be released by September, while homegrown vaccines COV-Iran Barakat vaccines have received the emergency use license. Some other Iranian-made vaccines are at the human phase test, including Razi Covo-Pars, Noora, Iran-Cuba vaccines produced in Pasture institution, etc.
