Tehran (IP) - Iran's Minister of Sports and Youth says the Iranian athletes who are heading to the Tokyo Olympics are in good condition, hoping to achieve good results in the tournament.

Iran PressIran news: "The postponement of the Olympics damaged the athletes' fitness due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, but they were able to get ready," Masoud Soltanifar told Iran Press News Agency on Saturday.

Speaking on the sidelines of the see-off ceremony of a group of athletes who went to the Tokyo Olympics, held last night at Imam Khomeini Airport, the Minister of Sports and Youth of Iran said: "Iranian athletes, especially in taekwondo and karate, participated in various quota competitions and were able to be qualified to participate in the Olympics."

Masoud Soltanifar added: "Currently, the best facilities are available for the athletes, and we hope that they would be able to achieve good results in Tokyo."

The Games are scheduled to open on July 23 and will last until August 8 to be followed by the Paralympic Games.
