Iranian ambassador to Latvia and the Latvian president stressed enhancing cooperation between the two countries.

Iran PressEurope: Iranian Ambassador to Latvia Ahmad Masoumifar met President Egils Levits on Friday.

Both sides stressed the need to maintain and expand bilateral relations.

In the video conference, Masoumifar referred to the 100th anniversary of Iran's recognition of Latvia's independence and stated that Iran had never recognized Latvia's occupation after World War II.

The Latvian president also stressed his country's interest in economic, scientific, and cultural cooperation with Iran.

During the meeting, the two sides also emphasized the continuation of political consultations, the expansion of parliamentary cooperation and the formation of parliamentary friendship groups, cultural, scientific, and academic cooperation, especially the strengthening of the Persian language teaching project at the University of Riga and the exchange of professors and students. 219
