Iran ready to continue inter-Afghan talks

Tehran (IP) - The Iranian foreign minister stressed Iran's readiness to continue inter-Afghan talks.

Iran Press/Iran News: In his speech at the final meeting of the inter-Afghan talks in Tehran on Thursday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif thanked both delegations who made peace and comfort of the Afghan people a priority in their talks and said: "Courage in peace is more important than courage in war."

Zarif added: "For peace, one must have self-sacrifice and forgiveness and ignore the maximum demands and pay attention to the demands of the other side, especially in these talks where there is no other side, and both sides are brothers, seeking peace and tranquility for the people of Afghanistan."

The Iranian foreign minister also said: "A nation that has been suffering for 40 years has the right to oppose the war."

"Take this opportunity to end the war in Afghanistan as soon as possible and provide the Afghan people with an opportunity for development," Zarif stated.

The minister of foreign affairs of Iran stressed: "The Islamic Republic of Iran is always ready to facilitate the continuation of your talks in any way you wish."

The first round of inter-Afghan talks in Tehran ended with a speech by the Iranian foreign minister, the heads of delegations of the government and Taliban and a six-point declaration.
